Positivity Through Art
Art is such a fabulous tool to help us work through our feelings and live in the moment. Art can take us off to a wonderful relaxing, creative place where we can lose a few hours and work through our feelings at the same time.
In this video I hope to take you step by step through my creative process and show you how to get your innermost thoughts and feelings out and down onto the canvas and then work them through to find some positives while at the same time having a creative workout to lift the heart and feed the soul.
You can absolutely create this piece of art! There are no rights and there are no wrongs. What you create will be an expression of your innermost thoughts and feelings and will hopefully serve as a release for those feelings and mark the beginnings of your healing journey.
Create from your heart, without too much thought. Let it flow and completely lose yourself in the moment.
There are only 3 things to remember when creating art of this type and that is to dry the paint between each layer (I sometimes use a hair dryer on a cool setting to speed this process up), not to get caught up on having the 'right' materials.. you don't have to use the same colours that I use or the same materials. You can if you would like to but equally you can go your own way and use colours that you like and materials that you have to hand to make textures. The 3rd and most important thing to remember is that you absolutely can do this... relax and let it flow.. there are no rights or wrongs.
Ali ❤️
Here I will list the materials that I use but it's absolutely fine to use what you have and to get a packet of acrylic paints and a canvas from a local art shop art or supermarket. This process is about expressing your feelings creatively not about having the right materials to create.
Firstly, here is the link to my Etsy shop if you would like to use the same words that I used in my art piece.
www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1355816235/
For ease of having everything in one place and accessible to all I got all of my materials for this piece off Amazon. These were bought in bulk for a group art session. If you use these links as a reference hopefully you will find single pieces as needed.

Soul Sisters. Sisters of the Heart. This is my latest piece for Shawn Petite’s Creative Team and I hope you love it! I had absolutely no idea where I was going with this one! I knew which stencils I wanted to use but had no idea what I planned to do with them! I dived straight in and started to build a background, I roughly covered the canvas with a mixture of DecoArt Americana Acrylics, True B...

Watch me create a mixed media piece using Shawn Petite’s stencils and downloadable collage pack elements. Firstly I used Shawn Petite’s stencil Face 1 Looking Down stencil to create an outline for my girl’s face. I used a white oil pastel as a base and to give the other pastels something to adhere to. This also makes blending easier! I added a touch of Salmon Pink to the cheeks and lips and the...

Watch as I create a journal page using stencils and a gelli plate. Firstly I used a Gelli plate to create background papers. I added lighter colours to my Gelli plate and then masked off an area using one of the masks in Shawn's Black Crow Stencil pack. I added my background papers and then pulled my prints to reveal a black crow showing through the foreground. I then used the Snowflakes and St...

For my first piece as a member of Shawn Petite's Creative Team I wanted to see if I could use Shawn's stencils and collage paks to create a 3D mixed media piece! Inspired by Shawn's product range I had a very clear idea of what it was that I wanted to do and as soon as I started looking through her wonderful collection my idea very quickly became reality. The piece is inspired by the lyrics of ...

Hi, I didn’t seal this particular one and quite liked the raw tooth type finish that it had, however, I was commissioned to create 4 more very similar pieces and I sealed those with Galeria Matt medium which gave a very slight shine to the finish. I liked both finishes but felt the sealed pieces were more protected.

Hi, for this piece I used mainly a sink liner and a drawer liner/anti slip mat which I cut up into smaller pieces. I often look around for things that I can find around the home rather than spending money on expensive stencils. I intend to do a video showing the texture tools/stencils that I use. 😊

I am using itsy bitsy sculpture paste and stencils for painting but everytime after applying paste over stencils, I'm trying to remove stencils immediately after this process , then the whole paste came out with stencils and couldn't get the pattern over MS boards,,, can u suggest some tips? Should I have to wait till paste dry and then to remove the stencils and Ms board? I'm so confused, i couldn't figure it out what to do 🥺🥺

    • @AliImperialeMixedMediaArtist

Hi, it sounds as though the sculpture paste that you are using is not thick enough to hold.. if you can maybe use modelling paste or gesso. I use Galeria Modelling Paste and I remove the stencil slowly and carefully immediately after I finish and find it holds very well. Good luck! 😊
